Behind closed doors

Until 1909 the rooms of the Harem of Topkapi were bustling with life. Prohibited and secluded. An inward-looking world of green and blue tiled corridors and tiny cubicles lined with sofas. A labyrinth of narrow spaces and inter-linking rooms. On my tour I learned that what we like to believe about harems tells us more about ourselves than about what really went on behind the closed doors of Topkapi. But it is said that ....
