Hos Peter och Jina

Min gode vän och hans samarbetspartner har öppnat en ny och fräsch salong i centrala Vasa. De hade vänligheten att låta oss husera där med förberedelserna för det inslag i programmet Strömsö som bandades den 27 oktober och som kommer att sändas i finländsk television den 15 november. Stylisten Maria Boström gör tre tolkningar av dagens trender när det kommer till den personliga stilen i de mera festliga sammanhangen. Coolt.

Behind closed doors

Until 1909 the rooms of the Harem of Topkapi were bustling with life. Prohibited and secluded. An inward-looking world of green and blue tiled corridors and tiny cubicles lined with sofas. A labyrinth of narrow spaces and inter-linking rooms. On my tour I learned that what we like to believe about harems tells us more about ourselves than about what really went on behind the closed doors of Topkapi. But it is said that ....

Skämtsamt började jag tala om the MadMax mosque på grund av de enorma byggnadsställningar som nu verkligen dominerar intrycket i Hagia Sofia och som utgör en besynnerlig kontrast till den vackra arkitekturen och alla målningar samt mosaiker. Moskén är ett av den bysantiska arkitekturens stora mästerverk och väckte omedelbart världens beundran då den invigdes den 27 december 536. De politiska och religiösa stormarna har varit många genom århundraden och trots att Istanbul idag är en av den muslimska världens mest sekulariserade städer så är frågan om Hagia Sofias betydelse fortfarande mycket känslig. Därför sker restaureringen i en mycket långsam takt och hittills har endast en fjärdelel av de spektakulära mosaikerna restaurerats.

The metal constructions needed during the restauration of Hagia Sophia made a strong contrast to the magnificent architecture and the beautiful decor of the historically unique mosque.
